A look at the SEC Standings after Week 7. We're in store for a fantastic race to Atlanta.
The SEC has provided some great games through the first seven weeks of the season. There have been several upsets, and there are a couple of teams at the top of the standings that are a bit of a surprise. After Oklahoma and Texas played this weekend, every team in the league has now played at least two conference games.
And with the way the standings look through seven weeks, we're in store for a great race to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game. There will be a ton of games with conference title and College Football Playoff implications.
Let's take a look at the current SEC standings after Week 7.
1. Ole Miss Rebels (6-0, 3-0 SEC)
Ole Miss survived a scare from Washington State this weekend. But a win is a win is a win. They don't ask how, they ask how many. And considering they started the season with a different quarterback at the helm, Lane Kiffin's doing a fantastic job in 2025.
2. Texas A&M Aggies (6-0, 3-0 SEC)
Texas A&M looks like they've got a squad this year. They play good defense, and they run the ball really well. The Aggies outgained Florida by nearly 100 yards and won the turnover battle.
3. Alabama Crimson Tide (5-1, 3-0 SEC)
Alabama is playing like a completely different team since its Week 1 loss to Florida State. They're one of the best in the nation at this point and a threat for the national title.
4. Georgia Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1 SEC)
Georgia took advantage of the controversial goalline fumble to rally and beat the Auburn Tigers to improve to 5-1 and 3-1 in SEC play. Neither team had more than 300 yards of offense in what turned out to be a good old fashioned SEC slugfest.
5. LSU Tigers (5-1, 2-1 SEC)
The LSU Tigers got a solid win at home over South Carolina. There are still concerns about the Tigers' offense, but the defense is legit.
6. Tennessee Volunteers (5-1, 2-1 SEC)
Tennessee extended a 10-point lead to 17 early in the fourth quarter and withstood a rally from the Arkansas Razorbacks to move to 2-1 in SEC play. There were nearly 1,000 yards of total offense in this game, led by Volunteers running back DeSean Bishop, who ran for 146 yards on 10 yards per carry.
7. Missouri Tigers (5-1, 1-1 SEC)
Missouri had an opportunity to pull off the upset against Alabama but a Beau Pribula interception on the final drive crushed their dreams of an undefeated season. The Tigers now got to Jordan-Hare Stadium to take on a reeling Auburn Tigers squad.
8. Oklahoma Sooners (5-1, 1-1 SEC)
The Oklahoma Sooners were disappointing in their performance against Texas, and they'll need to bounce back quickly with a road trip to face South Carolina before a five-game stretch to finish the season against teams ranked in the top 25 of the US LBM Coaches Poll.
9. Vanderbilt Commodores (5-1, 1-1 SEC)
The Commodores had the week off to regroup after their loss to Alabama. Now they get back-to-back home games against LSU and Missouri before a difficult road trip to Austin.
10. Texas Longhorns (4-2, 1-1 SEC)
Texas kept their College Football Playoff hopes alive with a win over the Oklahoma Sooners. Steve Sarkisian had a great game plan to keep Arch Manning cleaner in the Red River Showdown. The Longhorns go to Kentucky this week and then Starkville to take on Mississippi State before welcoming the Vanderbilt Commodores.
11. Florida Gators (2-4, 1-2 SEC)
The Florida Gators couldn't keep the momentum going from their big win over Texas in Week 6 and suffered their fourth loss of the season on the road to Texas A&M. The Aggies are a legit contender, but the Gators were hoping for a better performance.
12. South Carolina Gamecocks (3-3, 1-3 SEC)
South Carolina's hopes of improving on their 9-3 season in 2024 were dashed with their Week 7 loss to LSU. South Carolina ran for 193 yards, but two turnovers and 13 penalties killed drives and their hopes of contending for a playoff berth. Next up, the Oklahoma Sooners.
13. Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-2, 0-2 SEC)
It was an off week for the Bulldogs in Week 7, and it came at a good time following their loss to Texas A&M. The Bulldogs had a chance to regroup ahead of a tough but winnable game against the Florida Gators in Gainesville.
14. Arkansas Razorbacks (2-4, 0-2 SEC)
Bobby Petrino at the helm didn't change the outcome but the Razorbacks were much more competitive in their loss to Tennessee than they were two weeks ago against Notre Dame.
15. Auburn Tigers (3-3, 0-3 SEC)
Auburn had its game against Georgia well in control until a controversial fumble at the goalline turned the tide. Georgia won by 10 and the Tigers are trending toward a program reset.
16. Kentucky Wildcats (2-3, 0-3 SEC)
The Kentucky Wildcats were off in Week 7 and now get set to take on a Texas Longhorns team riding high after their win over the Oklahoma Sooners.
