Puka Nacua entered Week 6 of the 2025 season leading the NFL in receptions and receiving yards, with 52 catches and 588 yards, respectively.

By the end of Sunday, though, the Los Angeles Rams’ star receiver found himself in second in the NFL in both categories, behind Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who’s also off to a phenomenal start to the season.

Nacua had his lowest receiving output of the season in the Rams’ 17-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, after suffering an ankle injury in the second quarter.

He was hurt when he leapt for a contested pass attempt in the end zone and landed awkwardly.

While Nacua eventually returned to the game in the third quarter, he did not catch a pass after coming back into the contest. He finished with two receptions for 28 yards.

Following the game, Los Angeles coach Sean McVay said there is some uncertainty that Nacua will be available for the Rams’ Week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Forcing turnovers

Tennessee linebacker Cody Barton (Utah and Brighton High) had his second interception of the season Sunday in the Titans’ 20-10 loss to Las Vegas. He picked off Raiders quarterback Geno Smith early in the fourth quarter, halting a drive that had advanced inside the Titans 25.

Key injuries

In addition to the Nacua injury, two other Utah ties suffered serious injuries Sunday.

San Francisco linebacker Fred Warner (BYU), one of the game’s top defenders, dislocated and broke his right ankle early in the 49ers’ 30-19 loss to Tampa Bay when a fellow 49ers defender roll onto his leg as the pair was trying to take down a ball carrier. It’s a season-ending injury that will require surgery, 49ers coach Mike Shanahan said.

Pittsburgh safety Miles Killebrew (Southern Utah) was carted to the locker room with a knee injury in the second quarter of the Steelers’ 23-9 win over Cleveland. Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin called it a “significant” injury postgame.

The touchdown club

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart (Corner Canyon High, Roy High) accounted for two touchdowns in his third career start, as the rookie helped the Giants beat defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia 34-17 in the Thursday night primetime matchup. The win gives Dart a 2-1 record as a starter.

First, after the Eagles took an early 3-0 lead, Dart scored on a 20-yard run to give New York the lead.

Then on the Giants’ next possession, he scrambled around before finding Wan’Dale Robinson, who shook off a tackler near the Eagles 23, then raced up the sideline for a 35-yard touchdown.

Jacksonville wide receiver Tim Patrick (Utah) scored for the first time as a Jaguar, hauling in a 26-yard touchdown catch in tight coverage as Jacksonville fell 20-12 to Seattle.

New Orleans tight end Taysom Hill (BYU) made his one touch count against New England, as he scored on a 1-yard touchdown run on third down in the Saints’ 25-19 loss to the Patriots.

Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love (Utah State) threw a 19-yard touchdown to Tucker Kraft in the Packers’ 27-18 win over Cincinnati. The score gave Green Bay some breathing room in the fourth quarter, as the Packers built a 24-10 lead.

Team leaders

Pittsburgh running back Jaylen Warren (Utah State) led all ball carriers with a game-high 52 rushing yards on 11 carries as the Steelers beat Cleveland 23-9. Warren, who’s in his first season as RB1 for the Steelers, has rushed for 184 yards through six weeks in 2025.

Notables

Baltimore quarterback Tyler Huntley (Utah) was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for the second straight week, and this time, he played the fourth quarter in the Ravens’ loss to the Rams. He took over for an ineffective Cooper Rush and completed 10 of 15 passes for 68 yards while running for 39 yards on three carries.

Arizona quarterback Kedon Slovis (BYU) signed to the Cardinals’ active roster ahead of the team’s 31-27 loss to Indianapolis on Sunday. With starting quarterback Kyler Murray missing the game due to injury, Slovis, who was previously on the Cardinals practice squad, served as the backup to Jacoby Brissett in the contest.

New Orleans cornerback Michael Davis (BYU) signed with the Saints this week after a tryout. The NFL veteran played for Washington last season after seven years with the Chargers, but he entered the year as a free agent.

Safety Alohi Gilman (Orem High) was traded from the Los Angeles Chargers to Baltimore this past week. He started his first game for the Ravens and had seven tackles in the loss.
