Once again, ABC led the charge in Week 7. The network had the three most-watched games of the week as it dominated TV ratings to start the 2025 college football season.

The Red River Rivalry led the charge on Saturday’s slate. Texas’ victory over Oklahoma drew 8.7 million viewers in the late afternoon window, making it the highest viewership of the day, ESPN announced. The Longhorns used a strong rushing attack and stout defense to shut down the Sooners and keep the golden hat in Austin.

Additionally, Alabama’s victory at Missouri averaged 7 million viewers at Noon ET while Georgia’s win at Auburn in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry brought in 6.7 million viewers on average. That made them the second and third-most watched games, respectively, of Week 7.

ABC has been red-hot to start the 2025 season. Through seven weeks, the network is averaging 6.9 million viewers – up 28% year-over-year, ESPN announced. ABC has eight of the Top 10 most-watched games of the year so far, according to data compiled by On3.

Other notable games were in the Big Ten, starting in the Noon ET slot. Ohio State capitalized on some Illinois miscues as the Buckeyes got a 34-16 victory in Champaign. At 5.9 million viewers, it checked in as FOX’s second-most watched Big Noon Saturday game of the year, trailing the 16.6 million people who tuned in for Texas at Ohio State in Week 1.

But much of the conversation surrounded the game at Autzen Stadium, where Indiana pulled off a thrilling victory over Oregon. The game averaged 5.6 million viewers, becoming CBS’ most-watched game of the season. Additionally, IU stole the headlines afterward as Curt Cignetti’s Hoosiers announced themselves as contenders in the Big Ten – and national championship – race.

Another key Big Ten matchup took place in the primetime window. Michigan and USC squared off in front of a packed house at the Coliseum. The Trojans’ high-powered offense was on full display in the 31-13 win in front of 4.3 million viewers on NBC in its B1G Saturday Night game.

As a whole, college football’s TV ratings continue to surge through the 2025 season with conference play in full swing. ABC has been the biggest beneficiary, continuing a trend that began last year when the SEC’s media rights deal took effect.
