Steelers' Cam Heyward dubs Joe Flacco-Aaron Rodgers matchup 'Icy Hot Bowl'

"Oldest quarterbacks playing this week! Let's go!" the Steelers' Cameron Heyward said of Joe Flacco vs. Aaron Rodgers. "Icy Hot Bowl! I love it!"

At age 36 and in his 15th NFL season, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward doesn't get to see many NFL quarterbacks who are younger than him anymore.

But when 40-year-old Joe Flacco starts for the Cincinnati Bengals and 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers starts for the Steelers on Thursday Night Football, ESPN Research reports that it will be the second time in NFL history that two quarterbacks at least 40 years old face off in a regular-season or postseason game.

Tom Brady and Drew Brees opposed each other in three games during the 2020 season.

"Oldest quarterbacks playing this week! Let's go!" Heyward said Oct. 14. "Icy Hot Bowl! I love it!"

"I think it's great for all the old guys," Rodgers said. "I know that when I watch other sports, maybe it's because I'm the older guy, but I tend to pull for the older guys to win championships. … I've known Joe (Flacco) for a long time. He's been great coming to my charity event. He's been a great ambassador for the league. He's had a great career, and it's fun that we're both still playing."

Flacco was asked whether he saw that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was shocked by the Cleveland Browns' trade of Flacco to the Bengals.

"Not specifically," Flacco replied. "I heard he was talking about it a little bit, the fact that I'm on the Bengals. ... I don't know. I didn't see it. I didn't get to see how upset he was. But I think he's probably just playing the game a little bit, and doing whatever he has to do."
