One truly exceptional talent will be available for Liverpool to buy. Now the Reds must decide whether to strike.

Liverpool spent massively on their squad in 2025, overhauling the playing staff for Arne Slot. It's something they very deliberately didn't do in Slot's first summer, instead wanting to get a better idea of what he wanted.

We've seen the outcome of that this year. Liverpool twice broke their transfer record as they brought in new options at centre-forward, new full-backs and a new playmaker in Florian Wirtz.

The team now has a much different look about it and while there's certainly still a ways to go before things gel together, it all feels positive. Though, Liverpool also aren't done.

There's certainly business to be done at centre-back, while the Reds haven't actually touched their midfield since 2023. But that might all change next year.

Liverpool and Carlos Baleba

It's highly unlikely that Liverpool make further major additions in January. Certainly not in midfield, anyway - we do hope there's something done at centre-back.

Of course, the problem there is that Liverpool may miss out on key targets if they choose to move in the winter. One player where that was a concern was Carlos Baleba.

Liverpool are, per Football Insider and other outlets, interested in Baleba. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone as the Brighton star is one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League and has been for a while now.
