Ravens predicted to ship three-time Pro Bowler to Commanders as losses mount

The Baltimore Ravens surprisingly have one of the worst records in the league and could end up selling as a result.

The Baltimore Ravens are in unfamiliar territory so far in 2025.

Ahead of Week 7, the Ravens are sitting at the bottom of the AFC North standings, alongside the Cleveland Browns, at 1-5. The Ravens have had some notable injuries, such as to star quarterback Lamar Jackson, but the team is underperforming regardless.

Still, even though the Ravens are deep in a hole, head coach John Harbaugh thinks his team can still make the playoffs. The hope is that Jackson returns after the Week 7 bye, and perhaps the team goes on a run after that.

The odds aren't in the Ravens' favor though, if we're being realistic. It's much more likely that the team chalks this up as a lost season and begins to look towards 2026. If that happens, veteran tight end Mark Andrews could end up on the trade block.

There were trade rumors surrounding Andrews this offseason, but nothing ever came of it. Now, with the team struggling and Andrews headed for free agency after the season, one writer thinks the Ravens could cash in.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports recently identified several trades that could happen before the deadline. Benjamin suggested the Washington Commanders trade for Andrews.

Regarding that potential deal, Benjamin offered the following:

We don't believe John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens are interested in completely punting on the rest of the 2025 season, even with the AFC contender deflated at 1-5. But Andrews is aging (30) and Isaiah Likely is already onboard as a longer-term option at tight end, so it's possible the Ravens could try to get something for the Pro Bowler while they can. Washington can't quite stay healthy out wide, and Andrews has enough left in the tank to form a grizzled but proven 1-2 punch with Zach Ertz. You can bet Jayden Daniels would enjoy feeding him.

As Benjamin pointed out, even if the Ravens don't sell, per se, they could still move Andrews to avoid losing him for nothing in free agency.

In Washington, Andrews would form a potent one-two punch at tight end with Zach Ertz. Ertz is currently second on the team in catches and receiving yards behind only wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

However, none of the other tight ends on the Commanders have done much of anything this season. John Bates and Ben Sinnott have just two catches combined so far, so the team would benefit from having another option at the position.

Considering Andrews' advanced age and expiring contract, it probably wouldn't cost too much to acquire the tight end. As Benjamin mentioned, the Ravens have Isaiah Likely on the roster which could make Andrews even more expendable.
