Chelsea have hired a player-coach from Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton of all places to become a scout.
It’s not a story I was expecting to cover to be honest, but Chelsea must see something in him to give him a role as a scout.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea in talks with Red Bull, Oracle, and a third company over new Front of Shirt Sponsors!!
Greenock Morton are currently 6th in the Scottish Championship, and Gary Woods has been playing as a goalkeeper for them as well as a coach. But now all of a sudden, he’s managed to get a goalkeeper scouting role with Chelsea. What a jump that is!
Chelsea hire Woods
The Daily Mail report that Chelsea have hired a new national goalkeeper scout, Gary Woods, who was most recently with Scottish Championship club Greenock Morton in a player-coach role.
The 35-year-old will be focusing on scouting players from between the Under-12 and U21s age groups.
Obviously I’d be lying if I sat here and started saying I knew anything at all about Woods. I’m just hoping that Chelsea do! I’m sure they’ve done their extensive research on him and know that he has the asset to become a top scout.
In other news this week
Chelsea are back in action this weekend after another international break has just ended. The Blues travel to Nottingham Forest and apparently they have continued preparing for the game as if it is Ange Postecoglu in charge despite rumours that he might be replaced by Sean Dyche already!
One Chelsea insider has put out some injury news on both Reece James and Enzo Fernandez for this coming fixture on Saturday, and to be honest, it sounds like both players should be OK to play at the weekend, or at least that is what we are hoping for.
