The Seattle Seahawks have gotten off to a hot start, sitting at 4-2 and tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams for first place in the NFC West.
Offensively, Sam Darnold has been a revelation, carrying over his magic from the Minnesota Vikings to Seattle. They currently boast one of the league's best offenses, ranking fourth and fifth, respectively, in points per game and passing yards per game.
But the run game has left a little more to be desired, averaging 104.2 rushing yards per game, best for 24th in the league. If Seattle is serious about being a true NFC contender, they're going to need a boost to put them over the top.
Seahawks urged to trade for one of Browns' Pro Bowl guards, Wyatt Teller or Joel Bitonio
At 1-5, the Cleveland Browns project to be sellers as the trade deadline approaches, and Michael Hanich of Sports Illustrated urged the Seahawks to acquire one of the Browns' former Pro Bowl guards in Wyatt Teller or Joel Bitonio.
Both were tabbed by Adam Schefter as names to watch ahead of the early November deadline.
"Teller is a three-time Pro Bowl selection from 2021 to 2023. One reason he was potentially not named a Pro Bowler last season was that he missed four games," wrote Hanich.
"He has earned a PFF grade of 70 in each of the seasons since 2020. This season, he (along with the Browns) is having a rough season, but Teller still has a run block grade of 66.8."
While Teller would be a fine option, the Seahawks could potentially choose between him and Bitonio.
"Another option the Seahawks could go for with the Browns is Bitonio. He has been one of Cleveland's most consistent offensive linemen since Joe Thomas retired," continued Hanich.
"Bitonio is coming off his seventh consecutive Pro Bowl season last year. He has also been named a two-time first-team All-Pro in 2021 and 2022."
Considering that both linemen are older and in the final years of their contracts, the price shouldn't be too hefty for either of their services.
One thing is for sure, though, to keep Darnold playing well, you have to keep him upright, as evidenced by the disappointing finish to the Vikings' season last year.
If the Seahawks want to be considered a true contender in the loaded NFC, they would be wise to make an aggressive move to upgrade their offensive line.
