MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Both the University of Memphis men’s and women’s basketball teams took the gravel road of Beale Street for the official tip-off for basketball season with the inaugural ‘Ballin on Beale’.

Tigers’ women’s head coach Alex Simmons and men’s head coach Penny Hardaway played a game of horse but spelling T.I.G.E.R.S.

Simmons, a former Lady Vol, claimed this year’s bragging rights after defeating 4-time NBA All-Star, Penny Hardaway.
