Instant analysis of the Jets' 13-6 loss to the Panthers in Week 7.
The New York Jets are still looking for their first win under the watch of head coach Aaron Glenn and they were technically close to it in Week 7.
The Jets (0-7) hosted the Carolina Panthers (4-3) at MetLife Stadium. Despite some poor play from both teams, the Green and White could not capitalize and lost 13-6.
Following the contest, here is Jets Wire's instant reaction to the Jets' loss to the Panthers:
What went right?
Not a whole lot on offense. Quarterback Justin Fields was benched and replaced by backup Tyrod Taylor. While the Jets were more comfortable throwing the ball with Taylor, he still had two interceptions.
Defensively, it was another strong game for the Green and White. In back-to-back weeks the offense has wasted good efforts from their defense. Most teams win games when an opponent only puts up 13 points. The Jets lost two of those in a row.
What went wrong?
Mostly all of it on offense. The Jets showed no life with Fields as he only had 25 net passing yards when he was benched in the second half. The lack of talented playmakers around both quarterbacks is obvious when Garrett Wilson (hip) does not play.
What's the bottom line?
What's next with the quarterback position? Head coach Aaron Glenn declined to name a starter for next week. Could this be the end of the Fields experiment?
What's next?
The Jets are back in Week 8 and will hit the road to face the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) for a 1 p.m. kickoff next Sunday. The Bengals are fresh off a 33-31 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on "Thursday Night Football."
