“Barcelona seems like a long time ago” – Pundit reacts to ‘bizarre’ Chelsea performance

One pundit has been reacting to what he describes as a ‘bizarre’ Chelsea performance last night over in Italy.

Enzo Maresca was speaking to the media after the game and he was defending his subs that he made, something that has been heavily criticised by fans and other pundits.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea have THREE Premier League centre midfielders on the radar – two they would LOVE to sign!

Meanwhile, former Chelsea winger Joe Cole attributes the issues we have seen as being down to a lack of experience in the squad still and for me, he’s absolutely got a point here.

It was far from good enough all round really. The players were poor, the in-game management from Enzo Maresca was terrible and just very odd. And they just lacked so much that Atalanta had, with the home side just wanting it more.

Former Tottenham defender Michael Dawson was on pundit duty for Sky Sports last night, covering the game.

He said:

“Chelsea’s performance was] bizarre. Credit to Atalanta they came out the blocks quick. Chelsea have got to be so disappointed. Wesley Fofana loses Scamacca for the first goal. Chelsea never got to the levels. Barcelona seems like a long time ago. It now makes Everton at The Bridge at the weekend, a huge, huge game for them.”

He’s right

Everton is now a massive game and to be honest, you already feel that pressure for Maresca.

No wins in our last four games, out of the automatic qualification spots in the Champions League; December woes are back, just like this time last season.

It is now arguably an even more crucial moment coming up now for all involved at Chelsea, and not just Everton but the next handful of games. Another slump that goes on past another few games will make you wonder whether Chelsea’s patience will run thin with the manager again.
