In a major boost, Real Madrid are set to recover key defender Dean Huijsen for Sunday’s La Liga clash against Deportivo Alaves.
The 20-year-old centre-back, who has been unavailable for the last few matches, trained with the rest of the squad today and took to social media to confirm his return to fitness.
Posting an image of himself in training, Huijsen captioned it: “Back 100.”
This will come as welcome news for Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid, who have run out of defenders for the trip to Vitoria to face Alaves.
After all, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Trent Alexander-Arnold were already ruled out with injuries. Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia joined them on the sidelines after being hit with suspensions for their red cards vs Celta Vigo.

Moreover, Antonio Rudiger is also set to miss the game due to muscle discomfort. It would have left Alonso with Raul Asencio as the only senior defender for the trip to Alaves.
But, as it turns out, Huijsen has recovered from his knee discomfort, which kept him out of five matches against Olympiacos, Girona, Athletic Club, Celta Vigo, and Manchester City.
The 20-year-old defender joined Real Madrid from AFC Bournemouth in June earlier this year and quickly became a key player for Alonso.
Even though there have been some ups and downs, Huijsen remains an integral part of the plans at Real Madrid and his comeback will be seen as a big boost.
Meanwhile, youngsters like Joan Martinez, David Jimenez, and Victor Valdepenas could get an opportunity to play against Alaves.
