Assistant coach Ella Masar parts ways with Chicago Stars

Former Chicago Stars and assistant coach, Ella Masar, is no longer part of the club’s coaching staff.

The Chicago Stars announced the departure of assistant coach Ella Masar after three years with the club.

“We are immeasurably grateful to Ella for her tireless dedication and loyalty to the Stars. Whenever called upon, Ella has always and immediately stepped up to go above and beyond, particularly with regard to our players,” said Chicago Stars executive chairperson, Laura Ricketts.

During her time with the club, Masar not only functioned as an assistant coach since her arrival in January 2023 but also as an interim head coach at the end of the same year, to then go back to her assistant coach position the following season. However, she answered the call to become interim head coach once again in 2025. During her last tenure at the helm, the Star had a four-game undefeated streak and showed a renewed energy, which helped them to earn points.

“I can honestly say that when I first came to Chicago, three years ago, I was disappointed with where we were as a club. But today, as I say goodbye, I leave with something much stronger than disappointment – I leave with pride,” said Masar.
