Lake Mary wins 1st Florida state championship on the wildest Hail Mary ending in FHSAA history originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Call it the Hail Lake Mary.
One of the most improbable endings to a football game in the history of this magnificent sport took place Saturday night in Florida, with Lake Mary High School trailing 27-21 to Vero Beach before the final play of the game.
But then came one of the craziest Hail Mary plays ever seen.
The deep ball was batted down, but then caught by a Lake Mary player. But then the tackle appeared to be made, before a lateral to another player resulted in getting the ball into the end zone.
The pass was thrown by Noah Grubbs.
It fell into the arms of Barrett Schulz.
He found Tavarius Brundridge Jr. racing around him to get the ball.
And the rest was history.

Sports are just absolutely crazy. How in the world does this happen?
It's just magic, mixed with elation on one side and heartbreak on the other.
Lake Mary is atop the state in a manner and moment they'll never forget.
