FC Bayern’s Leon Goretzka could be on the move this summer.
Goretzka to Atléti? (Football Espana)
Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka is likely not going to get a contract offer from the club after this season, which would make him a free agent.
If that happens, Atlético Madrid could be among the clubs ready to make a move for the Germany international:
Atletico Madrid are fresh off the back of a takeover deal from Apollo Global Management that many believe could catapult the club into a different sphere in terms of investment. Their latest transfer target should be no strain on their finances though.
As per Diario AS, Atletico have set their sights on Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka. The 30-year-old is out of contract this summer, and this could sign a precontract for free with Los Colchoneros in less than two weeks. They say that Atletico are thoroughly informed of his situation as things stand, with Bayern seemingly unwilling to meet his contract demands.
Barring anything crazy happening, Goretzka will not be back with the Bavarians. He does, however, have some suitors at this point and should be able to continue his career in a good spot. It remains to be seen what Goretzka wants to do, though. To continue playing near his current salary, the midfielder will have to go abroad, but if he is willing to take a significant pay cut, he could potentially find a club in Germany.
Alonso thankful for Real support (Fabrizio Romano)
Former Bayern Munich midfielder and current Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has reportedly been at odds with some members of his team (especially Vinícius Júnior), but he is keeping everything positive at this point given these quotes captured by Fabrizio Romano:
🚨🤍 Xabi Alonso on Real Madrid support: “From the beginning, we have had a close relationship, based on respect and affection.”
“The demands are extremely high. It’s a long road, there will be good times and not-so-good times.”
“I’m very happy with and for Rodrygo. He’s doing very well.”
“The balance he gives us, both on and off the ball. He has excellent technique. He combines well between the lines and in tight space… very good!”
“I’m happy with Vini Jr. I’m sure his goal will come very soon, it’s just matter of time.”
Füllkrug loan move to Milan getting close (Rudy Galetti)
West Ham United striker and Germany international Niclas Füllkrug could be close to moving to AC Milan:
🚨🤝 AC Milan are closing in on Füllkrug on loan from West Ham until June. 🔴⚫
All the paperwork is expected to be completed within the next 24h after West Ham, which initially asked for a buy obligation, opened to a purchase option (~€14/15m).
Personal terms already agreed.
Bayern won’t make move for Ter Stegen (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bayern Munich has long been rumored to be a fan of FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, but do not expect the Bavarians to take a run at Ter Stegen if Manuel Neuer retires:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Bayern want to sign Marc-André ter Stegen. He’s a really good goalkeeper, but there are no meetings taking place within the club to discuss him signing for FC Bayern. There is an interesting set of circumstances at the club. As we know, Jonas Urbig is considered the backup and eventual successor to first-choice Manuel Neuer. Urbig also shares the same agent as Ter Stegen, so they don’t want to bring a rival into the club.
That all said, Ter Stegen knows he has to move if he wants to play in the World Cup for Germany. This is why there is so much speculation around his future. I think an idea like Manchester United, for example, is more plausible. Otherwise, there are many interested clubs; Besiktas would be a relatively easy move for the Barcelona star in order to get playing time, as he has no chance of playing next year for Barca; Hansi Flick is very clear on this position.
Neuer is still, firmly, the number one goalkeeper at Bayern Munich, so it wouldn’t make any sense to bring Marc-André ter Stegen in. He’s already been sitting on the bench for the German national team behind Manuel Neuer, and he won’t do it at Bayern!
There is no way either side would be interested in a January move, but even in the summer, Jonas Urbig looks ready to take the job should Neuer retire (which is up in the air at this point).
