Week 18 will be Bobo’s first game as captain this season.
On Thursday, the Seattle Seahawks announced their selection of Week 18 game captains ahead of Saturday’s NFC West title game vs. the San Francisco 49ers.
This week’s captains are running back Zach Charbonnet, defensive tackle Leonard Williams, wide receiver Jake Bobo, and tight end Eric Saubert. Bobo will be making his season debut as a captain, while everyone else will each be wearing the “C” for the second time this year. All four of the Seahawks’ Week 18 game captains have ties to either the 49ers organization or to the state of California in general.
Bobo, this week’s newcomer to the captaincy, will be taking on an elevated role this week with Rasheed Shaheed being designated as questionable and Cody White and Tory Horton unavailable due to injury. The third-year receiver played one season at UCLA in 2022 before being signed to the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent (UFA) in 2023. The regular season finale will be Bobo’s 11th appearance this season, as well as his fourth in five games. More Bobo!
Williams, who was also one of Seattle’s captains vs. the Niners back in Week 1, is originally from California. Born in Bakersfield, Williams also lived in Sacramento for a short time before playing three seasons at USC from 2012 to 2014. The 31-year-old defensive tackle was named to his second consecutive Pro Bowl roster and is currently tied with Byron Murphy II for the team lead in sacks (7.0).
Charbonnet, a Week 2 captain, is originally from the L.A. suburb of Bellflower, Calif. The 24-year-old running back played two seasons at UCLA upon transferring from the University of Michigan prior to being selected by Seattle in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. With two rushing touchdowns in the Seahawks’ Week 17 win over the Carolina Panthers, Charbonnet became just the eighth running back in franchise history to score at least 10 rushing TDs in a season, as well as the first since Marshawn Lynch did so in 2014.
Saubert, one of Seattle’s Week 4 captains, played one season for San Francisco in 2024, starting in three of the team’s 17 games and finishing with 97 receiving yards on the year. The Seahawks’ TE2 has made an impact since his return from injury, hauling in the game-winning two-point conversion in the team’s overtime victory against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16.
The Seahawks will battle the 49ers for the NFC West division title and the NFC’s No. 1 seed at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium at 5:00 p.m. PT on Saturday.
