Broncos by the numbers for Week 18

Each week, we look for interesting stats or data posted about the Denver Broncos. Here’s what we found for Week 18.

The Denver Broncos face an important Week 18 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Win and they secure the number one seed in the AFC. Lose and things… get interesting. Fortunately, the Chargers are resting some of their key starters and that should give Denver the advantage.

Denver is also coming off a mini-bye having played on Christmas night. The week was quiet on the interesting stats side of things. There were a couple of really interesting posts that dropped, so here’s what I’ve tracked down for Week 18:

RJ Harvey has a nose for the end zone

It’s been a quiet rookie season for RJ Harvey it feels like, until you start looking into the stats. Harvey has been really good and is on the verge of becoming the first rookie running back with a touchdown in six straight games since JK Dobbins in 2020. With 12 total touchdowns, he has been the exact kind of threat out of the backfield that Sean Payton’s offense needed.

Harvey currently has 863 total yards and 12 touchdowns on the year.

He’s also been a fantasy superstar and was awarded Yahoo Fantasy’s 2025 Rookie of the Year. He finished the 11th best fantasy running back, 1st among all rookies. I know its fantasy, but its a nice thing to see.

Trust that Bo Nix is elite

The hand-wringing the national media goes through any time Bo Nix is discussed is perplexing and odd given how he stacks up among many important measurables. Then the eye test — you know, if you watch the actual games — should also easily close the deal for most analysts on how good Nix really is.

Here’s some quality Bo Nix data from NFL Research on X:

Those were good, but this tweet stole the show this week. This is how each quarterback in the NFL fared against playoff defenses in EPA/pass. Nix ranked 10th overall. Not elite yet, but certainly good enough for a playoff contender.

He’ll continue to grow and get better too. We’re in good hands, Broncos Country!

NFL Defensive Scheme Diversity

This last one is super interesting data on NFL defensive scheme diversity using scores on personnel, coverages, and blitzing.

Frankly, I’m not sure how to interpret this data since the Houston Texans are pretty elite, as have been the Broncos defense. Both teams are near defenses that are both good and not good, so its not a chart that really tells you which teams are dominating. Just an interesting data set of how teams are calling their defense in 2025.

That’s the best of the best that I found this week. If you have any interesting tweets or posts you’ve seen this week about the Broncos, share in the comments section below!
