Four arrested for $100k theft at California sports card shop

Four men have been arrested in connection with the theft of $100,000 in collectibles at a sports card store in Burbank, California, the Burbank Police Department announced Thursday.

Brian Chavez, 22, of Los Angeles, Jeremy Lopez, 22, of Los Angeles, Marco Barrongil, 26, of North Hollywood, and Elijah Garcia, 27, of Compton, have been arrested and booked for burglary.

Formal charges are pending review.

According to police reports, the burglary occurred at 2 a.m. on Dec. 2 at LA Sports Cards. Police found “evidence of forced entry at the front of the business” with the inside of the store damaged.

Pokémon cards, sports cards and other collectibles, with an estimated value of approximately $100,000, were among the items stolen.

Search warrants were served Dec. 18 and Jan. 8 at four separate locations. Evidence was found linking the suspects to the burglary, according to police.
