According to a recent report from AS, it has come to light that Real Madrid are already laying the groundwork for a key structural change in midfield ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is said that the club wants to bring in a young, high-potential ‘organising midfielder’ capable of shaping games and offering long-term balance to the team.

The report outlines a wider summer plan that goes beyond midfield alone. Real Madrid intend to address defensive depth by signing one or possibly two centre-backs.

Alongside that, recruitment officials are actively studying the market for a technically gifted playmaker who can grow into a central role over time.

There is certainly a need

Within the club, there is also an understanding that squad changes are inevitable.

This is because Dani Ceballos, who will turn 30 soon, is approaching the end of his contract and is not expected to renew.

His likely departure only increases the urgency to reinforce the midfield with a younger option who can take on creative and organisational duties.

From a tactical standpoint, Real Madrid need a midfielder who can distribute the ball with clarity, control tempo, and connect defensive and attacking phases.

While Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham are both central to the project, their roles are clearly defined and somewhat contrasting.

What the team lacks is a complementary profile – a player who can read the game, offer peripheral vision, cover wide areas when needed, and act as a link rather than a runner.

This absence has been felt in matches where Madrid struggle to impose rhythm or control long spells of possession.

In this context, Arda Guler remains a key internal variable. The club is prepared to trust him and give him responsibility, but his performances between now and the end of the season will be decisive.

If he meets expectations, the club may opt to sign a midfielder strictly for the future.

If not, Madrid could accelerate plans and move more aggressively in the market.
