Georgia pass rusher announces transfer destination

The Georgia Bulldogs expected big things from spring transfer portal addition Elo Modozie, but that never materialized

Georgia Bulldogs outside linebacker Elo Modozie has announced his transfer to the Purdue Boilermakers, which has been a very popular destination for Georgia transfers in recent years. At Purdue, Modozie should receive significantly more snaps.

Modozie is the 11th Georgia player to announced his transfer portal destination this offseason. Offensive lineman Jamal Meriweather is the only Georgia player without a transfer home. The Bulldogs brought in nine transfers this year, which is the fewest in the SEC. Georgia did a good job of roster retention after losing a few key players to the NFL draft like linebacker CJ Allen and wide receiver Zachariah Branch.

Modozie transferred to UGA from Army in the spring. He was expected to provide a pass rush boost, but that did not happen. He was a rotational player for Georgia and posted eight tackles and no sacks in his only season between the hedges. Modozie was far more productive at Army, where he recorded 34 tackles and six 1/2 sacks in 2024.

As the year went on, Modozie had a larger role for UGA, but he simply did not move the needle much for the defense. He has one year of eligibility left. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound linebacker is from St. Augustine, Florida, and is a former track athlete.

The Bulldogs are returning Gabe Harris and Quintavius Johnson next season along with Isaiah Gibson. Georgia also plays linebacker Chris Cole on the edge at times. The Bulldogs brought in Auburn edge rusher transfer Amaris Williams.
