What the Seahawks’ Super Bowl appearance means for Klint Kubiak’s head coach prospects

The latest on Klint Kubiak and whether or not he’ll remain Seahawks offensive coordinator in 2026, or head to another team.

The Seattle Seahawks are in the Super Bowl, which means that offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak will be staying with the team for at least one more game. Kubiak has been a popular candidate to be a head coach, but Seattle’s Super Bowl appearance will affect Klint’s availability for interviews over the next two weeks.

If there’s any good news, it’s the fact that more than half of the 10 (!) head coaching vacancies have been filled, which obviously increases the chances that Kubiak will still be Seattle’s play-caller entering the 2026 season. Let’s take a look at where things stand with Kubiak and the NFL as a whole.

Teams Klint Kubiak has interviewed with

  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Atlanta Falcons (have since hired Kevin Stefanski)
  • Arizona Cardinals
  • New York Giants (have since hired John Harbaugh)
  • Baltimore Ravens (have since hired Jesse Minter)
  • Miami Dolphins (have since hired Jeff Hafley)

Remaining NFL head coaching vacancies

  • Cleveland Browns
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Arizona Cardinals

Which teams can interview Kubiak before the Super Bowl?

During the bye week, only teams that have previously interviewed a head coach candidate can interview a second time, whether in-person or virtual. Once Super Bowl week begins, interviews stop and everyone has to wait until after the game is over.

Through almighty deductive powers, the Browns can’t interview Kubiak for another two weeks. It’s been rumored that they may promote Jim Schwartz from defensive coordinator to head coach, so it’s all moot.

There has not been any reporting through Tuesday as far as second interviews for Kubiak with either the Cardinals or Raiders. The Raiders are considered the strongest candidate for Kubiak, but they’re also interested in Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb, who is getting a second interview.

We’ll find out pretty soon whether or not next week will be Kubiak’s final game with the Seahawks, or if he’s back for another year after this remarkable first season in Seattle.
