Baboucarr Ann continues to stake his claim as one of the best high school basketball players in the state of Minnesota.
The junior point guard made some history on Tuesday night for Maple Grove. In a 93-75 victory over Eden Prairie, Ann went for 47 points, setting the school’s single-game scoring record.
In addition to the unreal scoring, Ann also finished with five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals in the win.
The win propelled Maple Grove to 11-4 on the season. The Crimson rank as the No. 5 team in Minnesota, according to the Rivals Composite Rankings.
Ann is the star of the show for Maple Grove and for good reason. The 6-foot-4 guard has been on the rise and is now a four-star prospect, according to Rivals. He checks in as the No. 57 recruit, No. 14 PG and No. 2 junior in Minnesota, per the Rivals150..
Rivals’ Jamie Shaw raved about Ann as he received the rankings bump earlier this month:
“Ann settled in at No. 57 in this most recent update. The 6-foot-4 guard from Maple Grove High simply continues to put up numbers,” Shaw wrote. “However, the intrigue with his game comes with the way he puts them up. Confident on the ball, he has shown he can consistently dribble, shoot, or pass to an advantage. He makes good reads and has a natural feel with the ball in his hands. Currently unranked by the rest of the industry, there could be another level of growth in there for Ann, and it will be interesting to watch how his season ends and travel season goes.”
According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies, Ann is the No. 130 recruit and No. 33 point guard in the 2027 cycle.
Ann and Maple Grove are set to be back in action this Friday, taking on Hopkins, the current No. 4 team in the state. The Crimson will be a tough out when state tournament time rolls around this spring.
