The Brazilian is being rested as a precaution due to an overload.
Barcelona have confirmed that Raphinha will miss Tuesday’s Copa del Rey quarter-final tie with Albacete due to an overload.
Raphinha went off at half-time of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Elche and will now sit out the midweek cup game.
A club statement read: “Raphinha is suffering from an overload in the adductor muscle of his right leg. As a precaution, he will miss tomorrow’s match against Albacete, and his recovery period is expected to be one week.”
Hansi Flick said after the game against Elche that the plan had always been to take Raphinha off early. He told reporters: “We knew Raphinha would play 45 minutes and then we’d substitute him. He’s fine, just a little tired.”
Barcelona’s statement suggests that he may also miss their next La Liga game against Real Mallorca at the weekend, but he should be fit for the trip to Girona on Monday, February 16th.
