  • “This is all easily verifiable information,” the athlete said

Tony Hawk is addressing claims that one of his weddings took place on Jeffrey Epstein's island.

In an Instagram Stories post shared Thursday, Feb. 5, the 57-year-old pro skateboarder and entrepreneur shut down speculation after his name was mentioned in the recently-released Epstein files.

“Here are the facts and timelines of my nuptials, and I apologize if they don't fit a narrative of nonsense,” he began, his entire post being in all caps.

Hawk, who has been married four times, referenced his 1990 wedding to Cindy Dunbar, which he said was “in Fallbrook, CA (at home).” Next was his 1996 ceremony to Erin Lee “in San Diego, CA (at Hilton Hotel).”

His 2006 wedding to Lhotse Merriam was “in Fiji (on Tavarua Surf Island),” and he married his current wife, Catherine "Cathy" Goodman, in 2015 “in Ireland (at Adare Manor)," he said.

Epstein, a convicted sex offender who died by suicide in August 2019, infamously owned Little Saint James, a private estate in the United States Virgin Islands, known as “Epstein Island.”

“One of the guests in 2006 shot photos of the Fiji ceremony and licensed them to Getty Images,” Hawk said of how his destination wedding entered the conversation.

“His name is [coincidentally] Mark Epstein,” the father of four continued.

Mark Epstein is also the name of Jeffrey’s younger brother. However, Hawk maintained that his associate is “an accomplished action sports photographer from Wyoming and of no relation to Jeffrey Epstein (who I never met and whose island I never visited).”

“This is all easily verifiable information. Facts are not fungible,” he concluded, apologizing to Mark for “the misinformation vortex.”

Hawk’s name was, in fact, mentioned in the Epstein Files — a collection of documents, ranging from interviews with victims and witnesses to items confiscated from raids of his various properties that have been released to the public by the United States Department of Justice.

In an email dated Oct. 22, 2024, a special agent working as a Threat Intake Examiner, whose identity was redacted, reported on an alleged case of human trafficking involving a minor.

“They would have sex with the young women and she was taken from Ireland and brought to Jeffrey Epstein Island when she was 13 years old,” the email read. “[Redacted] said that she was there when Prince Edward was there and when Tony Hawk got married on the island.”

PEOPLE reached out to a rep for Hawk, but did not immediately receive a response.

Jeffrey was convicted in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

He was later arrested in July 2019 on accusations that he sexually abused girls as young as 14 years old, but died the following month while awaiting trial on federal conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.
