Samuel Gehring, Slinger boys wrestling
The junior grappler pinned both his opponents in under two minutes to earn a North Shore Conference individual title at 150 pounds while helping lead a team title for the Owls on Feb. 6.
Chloe Katsma, Lakeshore Lightning girls hockey co-op
The 2024-25 all-state defenseman doesn't score a lot of goals, but last week she scored a pair of huge goals in a 5-2 comeback against the Brookfield Glacier on Feb. 3. The West Bend West senior lit the lamp at the 15:09 mark of the second period to help the Lightning erase an early 2-0 deficit on the power play to tie the game at 2-2 and then scored the go-ahead goal (also on the power play) at the 4:31 mark of the third period as part of a three-goal final period. She also added an assist in another 5-2 victory over Madison Metro Lynx on Feb. 7.
Cooper Markee, Whitnall boys basketball
The senior and Bryant & Stratton College commit scored 39 points on 14-of-18 shooting from the field to go along with 10 rebounds to lead the Falcons over area No. 2 team West Allis Central on Feb. 6. In an 80-66 win over Brown Deer on Feb. 3, Markee scored 37 points on 13-of-17 shooting, adding eight rebounds.
Sage Miskel, Whitefish Bay girls basketball
Whitefish Bay continued its march toward an outright North Shore Conference title and a No. 1 seed in the Division 2 girls basketball tournament with a pair of victories last week. On Feb. 3, Miskel led everyone in scoring with 23 points and seven rebounds in a 62-58 victory over Pewaukee on the road after a 37-point second half for the Blue Dukes. Three nights later, Miskel added 22 points with 14 rebounds and six assists in an 82-43 rout of NSC foe Slinger to extend Bay's winning streak to 12 games.
Jakari Smith, Milwaukee Bradley Tech boys basketball
One week after becoming Bradley Tech's all-time leading scorer by surpassing 1,200 career points, the senior had 50 points that included the game-winning corner three in an 82-79 win over Carmen Northwest on Feb. 3. He also scored 27 points with 12 boards in a narrow 85-84 loss to Milwaukee Hamilton on Feb. 4, before bouncing back with 51 points in an 86-42 win over Milwaukee North on Feb. 6.
