After much speculation, it’s official: The Los Angeles Rams have traded for Kansas City Chiefs star Trent McDuffie.
As reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Rams are getting McDuffie for a clutch of draft picks, including a first-rounder this year.
Also included are fifth and sixth-round picks this year and a third-round pick in next year’s draft.
The Rams had been open about seeking a new player for their secondary, and in McDuffie, they’ve landed a two-time All-Pro while keeping their other first-round pick.
McDuffie is also a Southern California native, having attending St. John Bosco in Bellflower for high school.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, will benefit from shedding McDuffie’s contract, opening the door for them to seek a less-expensive and younger player.
The Rams have been looking to build a team capable of competing for a Super Bowl now, especially coming off of Matt Stafford’s MVP season in 2025.
Matt Stafford is 38 years old, meaning he doesn’t have too many seasons left in the NFL.
After a painful exit in the playoffs versus the eventual champion Seattle Seahawks, the Rams know that their best chance at a title is in the next couple of seasons.
Do you think the addition of Trent McDuffie will get the Rams closer to a Super Bowl? Is this the year the Rams bring home the Lombardi Trophy?
