PCA does it again.
Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong ties Ryne Sandberg’s Chicago record set in 1983 originally appeared on The Sporting News
Pete Crow-Armstrong's special season for the Chicago Cubs continued this weekend as he joined a franchise legend in the history books.
PCA made some stolen base magic not done since the late, great Ryne Sandberg.
Crow-Armstrong reached the 30-steal mark for the first time. In doing so, he became the first Cubs player 23 or under to notch 30 steals since Sandberg in 1983, per MLB Network's Sarah Langs.
PCA turned 23 in March and is in his first full big league season.
Last year, he stole 27 bases in 123 games. This season, it's already the 30 swipes in 115 games.

Crow-Armstrong has an OPS of .822 which includes an NL-best 31 doubles to go along with 27 home runs and four triples. He has driven in 78 runs and scored 74.
He also might be the best defensive centerfielder on the planet. If you hit a ball in the air out there against the Cubs, it better be gone, because otherwise, Crow-Armstrong is catching it.
PCA, by Baseball Reference's calculation of Wins Above Replacement, leads the National League in that stat.

It's a remarkable year for the lefty, who was solid in 2024 but didn't necessarily look like he'd be a big-time hitter.
Even amid recent struggles, Crow-Armstrong's bat has taken a huge leap forward in 2025. It shows the potential for him to be one of the best players in baseball for the next decade.
And thanks to his speed, he now is alongside Sandberg in the Cubs' record books, too, which is a special place to be.
