Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had to briefly leave Tuesday’s practice after being stepped on, ESPN’s Brooke Pryor reported. Rodgers was later seen getting a bag of ice wrapped around his right calf.

The QB eventually had the calf wrapped up with an ace-bandage-like wrap and returned to practice. Pryor noted that Rodgers was “not quite as fluid” on his first couple of drop throws after getting his calf wrapped.

Ultimately, Rodgers did not miss any more snaps after returning to practice with the first team. However, he did throw an interception on his last rep and looked to be moving “a step slower” after the injury, according to Pryor.

Rodgers, 41, is getting ready to enter his 21st NFL season and his first with the Steelers. He signed with the team this offseason on a one-year deal and his expected to be the starter.

Rodgers brings many accolades with him, including four MVP awards and a Super Bowl victory with the Green Bay Packers in 2011, which ironically came against the Steelers. Now the team is hoping he can help them get back to the big game in 2025.

Injuries are often a concern with a quarterback his age, though, and he does have a recent history with him. Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in the 2023 season opener but bounced back last season to play in all 17 games with the New York Jets.

The Steelers will hope that trend continues, and it at least appears that Tuesday’s calf injury was a minor one. Behind Rodgers, the Steelers have quarterbacks Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and Skylar Thompson.
