Exciting News Surfaces on Former Lakers, Warriors NBA Champion originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
JaVale McGee made a name for himself as one of the strangest NBA players when he played. Some of his antics throughout his career earned him a reputation. However, he has proven that he is a winner throughout his professional basketball career.
McGee may not have been a star, but he helped three teams win the title in four years. He helped the Golden State Warriors go back-to-back in 2017 and 2018, then helped the Los Angeles Lakers win a title in 2020. Of the 43 playoff games combined that McGeee played in with those three teams, he started in 29 of them.
McGee had a limited role with those three teams, but still had a role nonetheless. Though he averaged 9.3, 12.2, and 9.6 minutes in those three years, he was still brought in to get rebounds and block shots, as he averaged 3.0, 3.2, and 3.1 rebounds to go with 0.9, 0.8, and 0.7 blocks a game in those respective championship years.
McGee has not been in the NBA since 2024 and has since resumed his professional basketball career overseas. However, he has continued his winning ways since making the transition. According to Basketball Forever, McGee helped the Vaqueros de Bayomon win the Puerto Rico League Championship.
The title itself was won in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional, and McGee was not the only NBA alum who helped Vaqueros de Bayomon win, as his former Denver Nuggets teammate Danilo Gallinari was both on the team and won Finals MVP for his performance.

JaVale McGee Put Up Impressive Numbers in Baloncesto Superior Nacional
Unsurprisingly, McGee put up excellent numbers during his first season in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional. In 41 games, which include both their regular season and playoff games, he averaged 17.2 points, nine rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 0.9 steals while shooting 59.1% from the field, per Latin Basket.
In his team's title-clinching game, McGee actually didn't have too good of a statline. In 17 minutes, he put up zero points, three rebounds, one assist, and two turnovers. He also missed two field goal attempts. Despite his struggles, his team still won anyway.
Even if he didn't help much in their title, McGee continues to prove that he can help teams win titles. He may not be the most important player on his team, but he's still an important player.
