Brock Lesnar squashes John Cena at Wrestlepalooza

It didn’t look much different than the SummerSlam match more than a decade ago.

WWE wasted no time getting right to the goods with tonight’s (Sat., Sept. 20, 2025) Wrestlepalooza premium live event from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, as Brock Lesnar was the first wrestler to make an entrance. His was his usual, and then his opponent, John Cena, hit the scene with a large group of children dressed just like him.

An unusual thing to do, considering what he could be headed into.

And then, the first surprise of the evening.

Paul Heyman showed up to interrupt Cena’s big introduction to do a big one of his own, announcing Lesnar’s various accolades before calling him “THE LAST REAL ASS KICKER!”

But how would the match play out?

Lesnar wore Cena out a bit, but then Cena exploded into a huge run of offense, from one Attitude Adjustment to a second and right into a third. Even that only got a two count on “The Beast.”

Lesnar responded by hitting him with multiple F-5’s, screaming at him to get up between the second and third. Except he didn’t go for the pinfall. He took his time, repeatedly hitting F-5 after F-5. When he was good and ready, he pinned Cena right there in the middle of the ring.

Yeah, it really is time to retire.
