Andrew Tackett defends belt, William Tackett falls to inaugural champ Ronaldo Junior

Headlining the event was another spectacular performance from Andrew Tackett. He reportedly came in with a rib injury, but he still put on a show and landed a slick submission finish to boot. After a few exchanges early, Elijah Dorsey dropped down for a heel hook, only for Tackett to hunt for a counter leg lock of his own.

One small adjustment, then his heel hook locked in deeper and Tackett was able to finish the submission and add a title defense to his growing resume.

Tackett said that even outside of the injury hampering his training, he didn’t drill leg locks at all as he expected more of a wrestling match and a battle for top control with Dorsey.

After the match, Tackett called for an unlikely BJJ match with UFC fighter Michael Chandler.

While Andrew was able to go home with the impressive victory, his brother suffered a different fate as the second title bout on UFC BJJ 4 produced a pretty sizable upset. William Tackett came in as a favorite and was looking to join his brother Andrew as a UFC BJJ champion, but Ronaldo Junior had other plans.

The Atos product pushed the pace from top position, and absolutely dominated Tackett in the last two rounds. Junior had several choke attempts from front headlock, wore him down and pretty much beat Tackett in his own game.

Tackett survived to the final bell, but it was Junior that went home with the dominant decision win and the inaugural UFC BJJ middleweight belt.

Aurelie Le Vern wins inaugural UFC BJJ belt with brutal submission over Raquel Canuto

In the other title bout on the card, Aurelie Le Vern came into Las Vegas against a local star and UFC BJJ favorite in Raquel Canuto, and pulled off a particularly nasty submission win in hostile territory. The French grappler kept transitioning between reverse triangle and kimura attempts, before eventually finishing with a pretty brutal hammerlock that won her the inaugural UFC BJJ women’s featherweight title.

Canuto tried to hold on and tough it out, but the painful submission was just locked in too deep and Le Vern forced a verbal tap to claim the inaugural belt.

Landon Elmore steals show at UFC BJJ 4

Outside of the three title bouts at UFC BJJ 4, it was a teenager called “The Big Slime” that arguably stole the spotlight. 19-year-old top prospect Landon Elmore was fresh of winning the EBI title and effortlessly submitting UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell, and he made his UFC BJJ debut look easy as well.

Moments after the match started, Elmore quickly submitted Nate Hernandez by Aoki lock, adding yet another high-profile win in under a minute to his resume.

Elmore, who trains under John Danaher and Gordon Ryan, again proved why he’s one of the top prospects to watch in jiu-jitsu.
