How has Auburn fared historically against teams on its 2026 schedule?
The SEC football scheduling format will transition from its traditional 8-game model to a 9-game model, effective in 2026. The switch will allow Auburn to play its traditional SEC rivals more often.
This season, Auburn will rekindle old matchups with Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and LSU for the first time since 2023, Tennessee for the first time since 2020, and Florida for the first time since 2019. The Tigers will face those opponents every other season under the new scheduling format, and will see South Carolina, Kentucky, Texas, and Oklahoma on its 2027 slate. Auburn has secured Alabama, Georgia, and Vanderbilt as permanent opponents and will play those teams every season for the next four years.
Outside of SEC play, Auburn will face three challenging out-of-conference foes, starting with the season-opener against the Baylor Bears. Auburn won last season's meeting and will square off with Baylor on a neutral site at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, to open the season. The Tigers will then meet Southern Miss in game two, which will be Alex Golesh's first game day at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn will host Samford to close out the non-conference schedule in November, which will be an appetizer for the Iron Bowl that will be played the following week.
