What happens if PGA Tour Q-School goes to a playoff? Here's the details

If the Final Stage of 2025 PGA Tour Q School goes to a playoff, here's what you need to know.

Talk about tightening the screws.

Last year, the Final Stage of Q-School awarded PGA Tour cards to the top five finishers and ties.

This year, the "and ties" was removed from the equation, meaning only the top five get status in 2026 and that means a playoff will be used to settle any ties.

Might we get bonus golf on Sunday at Dye's Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida? There was a two-way tie for the lead after 54 holes but halfway through the final round there were five players tied for first with another four just one shot back.

What is the playoff format at PGA Tour Q School?

If there's a playoff needed any two or more golfers, it will be on the 18th hole, with everyone playing the hole over and over again until the tie is settled.

Dye's Valley 18th is a par 4 with water down the left side. It's playing 414 yards this week and ranks as the seventh most-difficult hole on the golf course.

One twist: if the playoff goes to a third extra hole, they will move the pin to a new location.

Where to watch the Final Stage of Q School?

The best part is, the final stage is live on TV on Sunday.

  • Final round, noon ET, NBC Sports app; 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET, Golf Channel

Coverage is scheduled to go to 4 p.m. ET but that will be extended in the event the playoff goes beyond that.
