Casemiro has confirmed he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The club have opted against triggering the extension in the Brazil midfielder’s deal. It will bring an end to Casemiro’s four-year spell at Manchester United as the club plot a midfield rebuild. The five-time Champions League winner will turn 34 next month and the Red Devils are set to look for a long-term replacement in the summer.
“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” Casemiro said.
“From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club. It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months.
“We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.”
Casemiro has made 146 appearances for Manchester United since joining from Real Madrid for a fee in the region of £70m. He won the EFL Cup and FA Cup during Erik ten Hag’s tenure and has been a regular in the side this season. However, the club are keen to offload the veteran’s £350,000-per-week wages.
